What Are Signs The Martial Art Honeymoon Is Over?
Is it the lack of interest because training has gotten boring, routine and stale? Or is it something else. What are the signs the art, the class, and/or training is no longer motivating enough to keep you going to class.
My answer …
Here is a comparison. The amount of time that it takes for a student to get bored with training is similar to the amount of time that it takes an employee to get used to his/her new job. You know, when you first get a job and you turn up early, do the right things, go the extra mile, talk about it to others, etc etc.
So the moment a student stops talking about training outside of the dojo is when the honeymoon is over.
Good news is that it is at this stage that the training becomes valuable. It's WHEN boredom sets in that the movements become automatic. That is what we are all training for isn't it? To become "naturals".
So, to keep the student focused, tell them this is the stage they can look forward to.
